Before you decide

AI support agents: buying questions

How do I test whether an AI agent can resolve a request?

Test the complete request, not just the opening answer. Use cases that require approved knowledge, a system lookup, a permitted action, and a human handoff. Record whether the task finished correctly and whether your team can inspect what happened.

What is the difference between an AI customer service agent and a chatbot?

The name alone does not establish capability. An answering bot may retrieve information, while an agent may also look up an order, open a ticket, or carry out an approved action. Ask the vendor to demonstrate a complete customer request, including identity checks, action permissions, and escalation when it cannot finish.

How do per-resolution and per-conversation prices compare?

Ask each vendor to define the billable event. A conversation may contain several requests, and a claimed resolution may depend on whether a customer comes back. Compare the same sample of tickets, including follow-ups, human handoffs, minimum subscriptions, and overages. A lower unit price does not establish a lower total cost.
